Personalisation
Personalisation has been a key element in the realm of new technologies, and refers to tools and interfaces focussed on and driven by the individual user's needs, interests and motivations. Whilst personalisation of individual learning and research spaces has been possible for several years the rapid onset of the tools such as blogs, wikis and other social media have led to even greater degrees of granularity in these spaces. The growth in personalised technologies in education, led by students but now very much a part of staff life as well, has formed a key part of JISC's innovation and advisory work across learning, research and administration.
