Interoperability

Contemporary educational institutions need cost-effective technical infrastructures that support a plethora of evolving requirements. Such infrastructures depend on complex and diverse IT systems interoperating effectively, both internally and across organisational boundaries.

JISC aims to facilitate and improve the planning and provision of interoperability: supporting the development of international standards; empowering the providers and users of technical infrastructures to work collaboratively; and adopting innovative approaches to systems interoperability, such as service-oriented approaches and shared infrastructure services.

The International e-Framework Partnership for Education and Research, of which JISC is a part, enables people to share knowledge, discuss strategies and explore best practice.
