e-Resources is one of JISC's strategic themes. Here is all the work that JISC is doing in the area of e-Resources.
e-Resources
An e-resource is a collection of digital content delivered to the user via the internet. The types of content included in e-resources include full text, images, primary research material and data, sound and film. e-Resources also encompass abstract and indexing databases.
JISC Collections negotiates with digital content owners and publishers of e-resources on behalf of UK further and higher education. The JISC Innovation group is leading a range of work to support the community in its engagement with digital information and e-resources. Firstly, the JISC is managing two
digitisation programmes to make available key resources for learning, teaching and research. The second area of activity is funding innovation to support streamlined access to e-resources. Work focuses on the development of
repositories and developing an
Information Environment where, irrespective of location, users can discover and access resources of interest and re-use these for learning and research purposes.
