Standards are, by definition, fairly mature agreements that control the way ICT develops. As TechWatch's work is mostly concerned with horizon scanning our remit is necessarily confined to 'pre-standards' work, or areas where particular standards may increase in importance or converge.
In addition, JISC funds important work in standards development and has been hugely influential in working with standards bodies on behalf of further and higher education. Here we provide an introduction to standards and their importance, and highlights some of the important organisations and work going on in this area.
