Procureweb is a procurement support service for the UK Higher and Further Education Sectors and Research Councils.

Set up in August 1998 Procureweb has grown from a central contracts database provision written in MS Access to a full procurement support service offering a wide range of procurement-related tools, information, systems and support to anyone who participates in the procurement process.

Since the 1 August 2007 Procureweb has been funded by JISC. The aim of the five year funding plan is to develop Procureweb further and to provide effective management and support towards provision of this service to the procurement community. As well as significant support, this move will provide Procureweb with a wealth of technical and managerial expertise as JISC already manages other similar operations around the sector.

What we offer

Central Universities Purchasing Information Database (CuPID) is a contract management database holding details of national, regional, inter-regional and local institution level contracts. CuPID can be used by institutions as a 'one stop shop' for all their contract requirements, allowing the opting in or out of the national and regional offerings, selecting preferred contracted suppliers and the ability to add local contract data. Procureweb offer training sessions for local contract administrators and have a dedicated support team to answer any questions that may arise.

Procureweb can offer purchasing departments advice and guidance on how to roll out CuPID to end users within the schools and departments. Procureweb can also provide various promotional materials ranging from mouse mats to information leaflets to departments to help with the promotion of CuPID within the institution.

tenders.ac.uk is a tender advertising system where registered institutions can post tender documentation for suppliers to download and complete. In turn, suppliers also register on the system via an automated process, and flag up the products and services they are interested in supplying. If these match the supply areas institutions have posted tenders to, they will receive an automated email alerting them that there is a tender opportunity that might interest them. For this reason, more and more companies are registering with the site, which means that tenders will be advertised to a larger community of competing suppliers. Since its launch in 2005, tenders.ac.uk has had over 3500 companies register on the system, making it an ideal place to place open and pre-qualification tender notices.

Higher Education Library Procurement (HELP) contains a wealth of information to help with the various procurement issues that can arise within institutions. The system currently consists of 2 'Books'. The first book is a Good Practice Guide containing general guidance material on day-to-day procurement and purchasing issues. The second book is of Sample Documentation containing various types of documents that are provided as starting documents for your own needs. Within each Book there are sections containing internal links to material within the Guide and external links to Procureweb and other external web sites. The system also holds various toolkits such as the Efficiency Measurement Model (EMM, Integrated Benchmarking Information System (IBIS) and the Annual Returns system.
