JISC CETIS advises UK Higher and Further Education on the strategic, technical and pedagogic implications of educational technology standards.
The JISC CETIS mission is to help institutions develop and implement open standards-based flexible and adaptive learning environments, learning services and learning resources. The aim is to increase the choice of available systems and software by helping to maintain a healthy open market; and support the development of the capabilities and good practices within institutions that are needed to:
- Implement and adapt learning environments to meet their strategic goals
- Support their approaches to learning
- Improve the quality of their learning processes and the outcomes for learners
- Reduce their costs over the longer term through the effective use of open standards
What JISC CETIS offers
The Centre’s work includes providing strategic advice to JISC, supporting its development programmes, representing it on international standardisation initiatives, and working with the wider educational community to facilitate the use of standards-based e-Learning, especially through Special Interest Groups. JISC CETIS also provides direct support for the JISC e-Learning programme and the e-Framework
JISC CETIS organises meetings, workshops and conferences and runs Special Interest Groups for the community in the following domains:Search for content on all of the JISC services websites
The JISC CETIS website provides regular educational technology news, comment and analysis. It covers developments in projects and standards as well as reporting on events.
