JISC theme(s): Information environment

Within the specific context of Freedom of Information this project investigated how records management programmes can be developed to ensure the good management of records in all formats within all the FEIs in the North East of England via collaboration with the Northern Colleges Network. It assessed the current status of records management practices in those FEIs and benchmarked current practicies against the Model Action Plan recommendations. As a result it  not only met the objectives of Theme 2 identified in the call but also raised awareness of records management and its role in meeting FOI requirements in the region, evaluated the current position of each FEI in terms of managing its records and provided practical help to FEIs in meeting the immediate requirements of the Model Action Plan.
