JISC theme(s): Information environment

Research records comprise records of (i) the research process, (ii) its outcomes or products, and (iii) the management of the process, in addition to the primary data themselves. Increasingly, these records and the systems which generate, manipulate, manage and preserve them are electronic. It is within this context that this project aimed to explore the practical implementation of the generic guidelines for managing the records of the research function from the Study of the Records Lifecycle. In doing so it examined and documented the issues arising from this exploration and any solutions/strategies for addressing them.

The outputs are a report which presents the results in the form of a series of maps, and documents the issues explored and recommended solutions, together with a series of video broadcasts sharing the views of the different stakeholders.  In addition the project team attempted to manage this project's records in line with the revised lifecycle study recommendations.
