The principal issue that this study addressed was how
HEIs deal with Intellectual Property Rights (
IPR) their ownership and control, in particular the copyright in electronic/digitised material. These can vary considerably. A reasonably coherent approach to this topic is needed if
HEIs are to negotiate with copyright owners or if there is to be a reasonably level playing field in the academic job market. A set of guidelines on policy approaches, ways of implementation and the implications for staff and
HEIs is available.
