Multi-user Windows NT server environments appear to offer considerable opportunities for increased student access to up-to-date PC software. Utilising a wide range of client hardware which can act as "Windows terminals" they also carry a high potential for reduced equipment and support costs.

This pilot project implements Windows terminal technology in a range of computer teaching room environments (including both PC and Macintosh clients) enabling comparison of the features, performance, implementation effort and other relevant factors of the leading multi-user Windows NT products.

The pilot implementations will be available for demonstration to interested parties at intervals throughout the project. A report, including case-studies and guidelines detailing our approach, what works and what does not, will be produced to enable HEIs to make informed choices as to the suitability of particular products for their own environment(s).
