JISC is supporting, via the LTIG programme, one year projects and activities that fit with the vision, outcomes and principles of the JISC e-Learning programme and support innovative approaches to learning and teaching. This is an open call, and projects dealing with any aspect of e-learning are considered. To reduce the initial investment in time and resource needed to develop a traditional JISC proposal and to encourage speculative and innovative ideas from the community bidders submit outline proposals online. Funds up to £75,000 for projects of one year duration are available. JISC has committed at least £500,000 for this activity during the three planned years of this programme.

Learning and Teaching Innovation Grants

Start date: 1 July 2008

End date: 1 July 2011

JISC theme(s): e-Learning

Committees: JISC Learning and Teaching committee

The Learning and Teaching Innovation Grants programme supports one year projects of up to £75,000 each dealing with any aspect of eLearning. It is an open rolling call, with multiple submission deadlines available.

Proposals may be submitted by HE institutions funded via HEFCE, SFC, HEFCW and DEL Northern Ireland, and by FE institutions funded via SFC, DCELLS Wales and DEL Northern Ireland. FE institutions in England that teach HE to more than 400 FTEs are also eligible to bid provided proposals demonstrate how the work supports the HE in FE agenda.

Proposals may be from single institutions or consortia. Partnership arrangements may be developed outside the sector (for example with research council sites, publishers, commercial suppliers), but the lead partner must meet the criteria outlined above. Funds can only be allocated through the lead partner. Only one submission per institution is permitted for each submission date.

Assessment is via a three stage process - a short outline proposal submitted via a web form allowing assessors to choose interesting projects for the next stage, a video-conference presentation and interview allowing the bidding team to elaborate on their project, and (if selected) the timely submission of a full JISC project plan.

The next submission date for initial proposals is 24 September 2008. Further information can be found in the 04/08 funding circular.
