‘The two day forum will provide many opportunities for discussion and sharing experiences and practice as well as an opportunity for feeding into planning for future JISC programmes and activities.’More than 300 delegates are gathering in Keele for an event that brings together representatives of more than 150 JISC innovation projects to share their experiences with funders, JISC services, committee members, and each other.
The first event of its kind to take place for three years, the JISC Innovation Forum will address themes such as the changing student experience, research data, sustainability, technology take-up, Web 2.0 and green computing, amongst others, and will provide a wealth of information and ideas to help inform future JISC priorities. Themes will be addressed through presentations, workshops and interactive discussion forums while a marketplace and exhibition area will also be a feature of the two-day event.
The forum will begin this morning with a welcome and introduction from Sarah Porter, JISC’s Head of Innovation, and other keynote speakers will include John Selby, HEFCE’s Director of Education and Participation and Jason Da Ponte, Managing Editor of BBC Mobile Platforms, who is responsible for overseeing the content across the BBC’s mobile web, messaging and AV offerings as well as emerging areas such as mobile broadcasting and out-of-home information services.
Speaking ahead of the event, Sarah Porter said: ‘The two day forum will provide many opportunities for discussion and sharing experiences and practice as well as an opportunity for feeding into planning for future JISC programmes and activities.’
