JISC invites tenders to conduct an evaluation and review of technical developments to support lifelong learning, focussing particularly on JISC-funded projects and the Lifelong Learning Networks funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).

The aims of this study are to review the ways in which technology can support progression and lifelong learning, and evaluate specific technical developments in this area, in order to provide a source of information for organisations considering implementing technology for these purposes.

The main deliverables of this study are an interim report on the evaluation of the significant technical developments and implementations linked with the Lifelong Learning Networks, to be delivered as early in the project as possible; and a final report, with annexes detailing the processes involved in supporting lifelong learning, and evaluation findings. The final report and annexes are to be delivered to JISC by the end of March 2009.

Up to £80,000 (including VAT and expenses) is available for the study over a period of just over 6 months, from mid-September 2008 to the end of March 2009.

The deadline for submission of tenders is no later than 12:00 noon on 12 August 2008.
