Sub-committees

JISC sub-committees members are individuals from the education sector who bring a practical knowledge of how ICT is used within institutions, what benefits its innovative use brings, and the issues to be addressed to support its future. 

  • Content Services committee (JCS) responsible for building a collection of scholarly and educational online resources and the management of the systems that deliver these materials to users
  • Integrated Information Environment committee (JIIE) ensures the continued development of an online information environment that provides secure and convenient access to scholarly and educational material
  • Learning and Teaching committee (JLT) helps institutions promote innovation in the use of ICT to benefit learning and teaching, research and the management of institutions
  • Network committee (JCN) charged with providing a pervasive, leading edge, network infrastructure
  • Organisational Support committee (JOS) supports managers and administrators in institutions by identifying relevant areas of work appropriate to JISC
  • Support of Research committee (JSR) supports the needs of researchers, particularly in the context of network infrastructure, authentication and data storage and retrieval

  • provide advice to policy makers and funding agencies in education and encourage strategic alignment
  • advise other JISC sub-committees as appropriate and provide a report to each JISC meeting
  • make provision for the appropriate dissemination of key outputs from work funded by the sub-committee
  • undertake appropriate independent evaluation of the work funded by the sub-committee
  • consider the financial implications and risk issues as they affect sub-committee decisions
